International Women’s Day: How To Celebrate Safely

4 March 2021

While our style of celebration may be adjusted for International Women’s Day or IWD, this year, our commitment and excitement for this day have not changed.

The accomplishments of women around the world should be celebrated every day. However, IWD2021 is a great start. This day, celebrated annually on March 8, commemorates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world and further inspires important discussions on gender equality. In honor of IWD, we ask you to celebrate safely with a few of these options:

Attend Virtual IWD Events

If you would like to attend IWD events virtually, you have a plethora of options here. With the worldwide events at your fingertips, you will be able to join the celebrations throughout the day and even search for activities based on your country and city. Make sure to #IWD2021 to show your support on social.

Celebrate Women Who Inspire You

Show your support for the women who inspire you through an act of service. Send them a beautiful message or a gift to show your appreciation. If you prefer to meet, enjoy a socially distanced lunch or enjoy a relaxing day at the spa. Choose an act that shows you appreciate them and support their personal and professional endeavors.

Support Women-Owned Businesses

While this can be done year-round, this special day provides a great opportunity to discover new women-owned businesses – especially those that value the goals and ideas behind International Women’s Day. If possible, try selecting a local business you can help support year-round.

Support The Cause All Year

Each year an annual IWD campaign theme is celebrated and continues all year long. This year, the theme is the #ChooseToChallenge campaign. It asks every one of us to call out gender bias and inequality in our personal and professional lives. A perfect way to begin is to show your support through your social media account of choice. Simply share an image of yourself raising your hand to show you commit to the challenge for the year. Use #ChooseToChallenge and #IWD2021. You can also submit your image here.

However you choose to celebrate International Women’s Day, the most important thing is to support the women who inspire you and make this world a better place. Happy International Women’s Day!
